The Gospel

The Gospel is the message of good news that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and was
raised from the dead. This is good news because unrighteous, condemned sinners are
forgiven and declared righteous before God through faith in Jesus. Through repentance and
faith in Jesus, we are saved from God’s wrath which is the penalty for our sins.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in
which you stand, 2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I
preached to you- unless you believed in vain. 3 For I delivered to you as of first importance
what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that
he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures…

John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him
should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to
condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
